Shozo Kajima
SHOZO KAJIMA is a widely known and respected poet, artist and literary scholar. Born in Tokyo in 1923, a graduate of Waseda University (Tokyo, Japan), from 1953 to 1990, he served as a professor of English literature at Shinshu University, Yokohama National University, and Aoyama Gakuin Women’s Junior College. His artistic and scholarly contributions are numerous. To mention some of the them over the past twenty or so years: he has held thirty solo-exhibitions of sumi (ink) drawings, published four books of poetry as well as four books on Lao Tzu in Japanese, was a co-editor and translator of the book Post-War Japanese Poetry (Penguin Books, 1980) and has translated four novels by William Faulkner into Japanese.
